    It cleans linen without stripping it, in nine scents that include a fragrance-free option. More than 100,000 people wash with Mozi, at a 4.8-star average. It's the gentle linen wash for anyone who still wants their laundry to smell like something.

    What makes a detergent mild?

    Mild describes what a formula leaves out. A mild laundry detergent keeps its pH balanced so it doesn't wear down natural fibers, and it leaves out optical brighteners and chlorine bleach.

    It drops dyes and harsh alkaline builders, and it comes as a liquid that rinses clean, so no chalky residue gets trapped in the weave.

    Our formula is built on the same principles. It runs on plant-based enzymes that target everyday residue like sweat and food, with no optical brighteners, no chlorine bleach, and no added dyes or phosphates.

    It's concentrated, so one to two tablespoons covers a normal load, and it works in both HE and standard washers.

    Mild refers to how a formula is built. Whether it carries a scent is a separate question, and a gentle wash can still smell like a fine fragrance.

    Our wash is dye-free and carries no hormone disruptors (paraben and phthalate free), and it smells like a real perfume. If you'd rather skip fragrance entirely, Free and Clear leaves it out.

    Why linen needs a gentler wash

    Linen is woven from flax, a strong plant fiber. Its softness comes from the finish and from the weave loosening over repeated washes. Harsh detergents and optical brighteners wear that finish down, and the fabric goes stiff and dull instead of soft.

    Two habits protect it. Never use fabric softener on linen, because it coats the fibers and kills the breathability and moisture-wicking that make linen worth wearing in summer. Wash it correctly and the opposite happens: linen gets softer with every wash.

    How to wash linen with Mozi

    Linen is easy to care for once you know the settings.

    1. Sort. Wash linen with linen or other lightweight fabrics, and turn garments inside out.
    2. Set the temperature. Cool to lukewarm, under 104°F (40°C). Hot water shrinks flax.
    3. Choose a gentle cycle. Use gentle or delicate, and don't pack the drum. Linen needs room to move.
    4. Measure. One to two tablespoons for a normal load, up to four for a large or heavily soiled one.
    5. Skip. No fabric softener, chlorine bleach, or optical brighteners.
    6. Dry low. Air-dry in shade or tumble on low, and pull pieces out while slightly damp. Iron damp if you iron at all.
    7. Hand-wash option. Soak in lukewarm water for 10 to 15 minutes, swish gently, and don't wring.
