Does fabric softener actually help with controlling laundry odors?
It can help, but mainly by adding fragrance to fabrics. Fabric softener may make clothes smell fresher, but it doesn't always remove the source of an odor. Proper washing with a good detergent is usually more important for lasting freshness.
